Cookies

The short version

We use the bare minimum: the essential cookies Shopify needs to keep this site standing, a security cookie from Cloudflare (our hosting layer), and your browser's localStorage to keep claim drafts on your own device. No ad trackers. No pixels. Nobody following you around the internet because you once looked up a delayed flight to Malaga.

What actually gets set

Shopify essential cookies

Red Eye Fund runs on Shopify, and Shopify sets a small number of cookies that make the site work at all - holding your session together, remembering basic preferences, and protecting against fraud and abuse. These are strictly functional. Without them the site breaks, which helps no one.

Cloudflare security cookie

Our storage and AI chat processing run on Cloudflare. Cloudflare may set a cookie to tell humans from bots and keep the site online. Also strictly functional, also boring.

localStorage (not technically a cookie, but close family)

When you start a claim at /pages/claim, your draft is saved in your browser's localStorage - on your device, not on our servers. Same goes for the claim reference you use at /pages/claim-status. We cannot see any of it, and it never leaves your machine until you actually hit submit. If you close the tab halfway through describing your four hours in Terminal 2, your draft will be waiting when you come back.

What we don't do

  • No third-party advertising or tracking cookies. Zero.
  • No ad pixels or cross-site tracking of any kind.
  • No selling or sharing your browsing data with anyone, ever.
  • No training AI on your chats. Messages you send our on-site chat are processed on Cloudflare Workers AI to answer your eligibility questions - they are not used to train models.

How to clear all of it

Everything above can be wiped from your browser settings in about ten seconds:

  • Chrome / Edge: Settings, then Privacy and security, then Delete browsing data - tick "Cookies and other site data".
  • Safari: Settings, then Privacy, then Manage Website Data - find redeyefund.com and hit Remove.
  • Firefox: Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Cookies and Site Data, then Manage Data.

One honest warning: clearing site data also deletes any unsubmitted claim draft sitting in localStorage. Submitted claims are safe - those live on our side, and you can always check them at /pages/claim-status. Blocking essential cookies entirely may stop parts of the site (like the claim form) from working. That's not a threat, it's just how websites work.

Why there's no cookie banner

Because we only use strictly necessary cookies and on-device storage, we don't ambush you with a consent pop-up listing 400 "trusted partners". There are no partners to trust. If that ever changes - it is not the plan - this page changes first, and we'll ask you properly before setting anything new.

Questions

Ask us in the on-site chat and you'll get a straight answer, no legalese. For the bigger picture - what data we collect for your claim (only what the claim needs) and when we delete it (after payout, or the moment you ask) - see our Privacy Policy.
